ESPN App Strategies
I conceptualized the process for ESPN to rationalize the 60+ apps ESPN had released. We developed a process and vetting process for defining success for the apps and bucketed the apps into what were successful categories for ESPN (scores / watch / listen / games / news consumption). Several apps that were not successful by the KPIs defined were sunset. This allowed for resource focus on apps that were successful and figuring out ways to capitalize the revenue on the mobile app landscape. This effort let us sunset 20 apps. It also increased revenue and investment on the existing apps, which continue to be forerunners today by leading engagement as well as revenue.
